The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said yesterday that his government will continue to pursue the vision of large-scale infrastructure delivery in the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande to enhance connectivity.

Sanvo-Olu said that although Jakand has rested, his vision for the country is the path that his government will protect to open up the path of vulnerable communities to make progress.

The governor said this at the inauguration ceremony of the second phase of the Lagos-Ogun border road in the Agbaduooke-Odo District Council Development Zone in Lagos.

He said, "Alhaji lateef Jakande represents what we are doing here today," he added. The parallel operation of the road network in abule egba, main land and Agbado with the Lagos-Abeokuta motorway will solve the deadlock, promote connectivity, and solve the perennial flood on the axis. Water problem.

The governor said that the project was born out of the government's commitment to strengthen connectivity, shorten travel time, and emphasize community promotion of socio-economic well-being.

Sanvo-Olu said, "I'm glad we can provide this model for our people."

The governor said that the road will appreciate house prices, increase business, shorten travel time, and generally improve the quality of life of the residents of the area.

Mrs., Special Adviser to the Governor-General on Works and Infrastructure. Aramad Adyoye said that the project is in line with the government's vision of stimulating the development of satellite settlements and border communities.

She said that during the launch of the 31 strategic road network in Ifako Ijaye in December 2019, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure must ensure that the second phase of the Lagos-Ogon border road is completed as soon as possible.

Legislators representing the local governments of Alimoshaw and Ifako Ijaye and the chairman of the local government alternately thanked the government for building important roads.

However, the community development areas and community development centers requesting the construction of about 2,700 inner streets are grateful for the government's commitment to infrastructure protection projects.

Mrs. Felicia Bangbad told NAN that the project was originally started by the late Alhaji Ratif Jakand, but was later abandoned, causing decades of suffering to the residents.

I live at Adukongos Estate. Since 2001, I have been in a very bad situation to move here, because there are no vehicles to pass through here. We must cross the water with our legs, but today I am glad that this bridge was built in my lifetime.

She said, "Now we have the opportunity to go anywhere easily. We can go to Mailan, Elipo, Aboulegba, Ochodi without worrying about water or floods. My children will find it easy to visit now."

This road is expected to be an alternative to the long-bust Sango-Ota and Lagos-Abukuta highway routes connecting Ayoboipaya, the command axis and other parts of the state.

Other residents and road users also praised the project.

Traditional, religious and community leaders from the border communities of Lagos and Ogon participated in the event.
