Republic of Benin had no aspiring of becoming 37th states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Chief Jeffrey Onyama, Minister for Foreign Affairs, said that the Republic of Benin had no aspiring of becoming 37th states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued this disclaimer in a statement signed by the spokesman of Mr. Ferdinand Nvoni in Abuja on Saturday.
The Ministry is responding to misleading speculation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that after meeting with Oniama and its Beninese counterparts in Abuja on February 18, misleading reports were cited.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been brought to the attention of misleading media reports that the Republic of Benin hopes to become a 37 countries in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The distinguished Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jeffrey Onjama, conducted a press interview in the presence of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Benin after a very fruitful meeting between the two ministerial delegations.
And say in the report that... The President of the Republic of Benin said he hoped that the relationship between the two countries would be so close, just as Benin was the 37th Nigerian country.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria has no territorial ambitions and never thought of Benin or any country as part of Nigeria.
