CNN's global live television program made him one of the world's most famous talk show hosts of the world, Larry King died in Los Angeles. He was 87 years old.

How did it happen?

He died on Saturday morning at Cedars -Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, according to a statement on his official Twitter account. No cause of death was provided, but he recently spent time treating novel coronavirus disease. After a heart attack in 1987, he underwent bypass surgery and later did two cancer treatments.


His death was confirmed by Ora Media, which is the production company of Larry King Now and with Larry King Politing behind the show. Earlier this month, he was hospitalised with novel coronavirus disease.

King ended his long CNN program in 2010, but returned to television again and again as a host, opinion moulder, and occasionally a salesman.

After 25 years on cable TV, King announced his retirement in 2010, behind Sean Hannity of Fox News and Rachel Mardo of MSNBC in the United States. By the time he left, he estimated that in more than half a century, he had given about 50,000 radio and television interviews. He won the Emmy Award for his lifelong achievements in 2011.

Robert Lloyd, a television critic for the Los Angeles Times, said after watching King's new program on Rainfall twice in 2018, he was nominated for an Emmy Award: "His informal brand has become common in the era of podcasts." No one does better or is more enthusiastic.


King's ratings soared on his CNN program, and Ross Perot announced on the radio in 1992 that he would run for president of the United States as an independent. In 1993, Vice President Al Gore and Perot debated the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) on the highest-rated cable TV show Golden Show in more than a decade.

King interviewed world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, goddess Kaka and other performers, as well as various athletes, actors, national heroes and unidentified people, who suddenly became spotlights. Marlon Brando kissed King's lips in the air, as did his former girlfriend and television actress Angie Dickinson.


King said that he asked the producer to choose his guests, but he didn't have much preparation. He preferred to ask simple questions and listen carefully to the answers.

King put various products on radio and television, and after natural disasters hit New Orleans and Haiti, he used his programs to raise funds for disaster relief.


An epic comeback arose in 1971 after he was accused of theft for taking $5,000 from financier Louis Wolfson and using it to repay taxes rather than to scheduled recipients.


Although he was never prosecuted, he was fired from various radio and newspaper columns in Florida. By the end of the 1970s, the incident was over, and he was able to return to Miami to broadcast.

In 1978, he launched a night coastal-to-shore radio talk show on the Mutual Radio Network called Larry Jinxiu. It features guest interviews and calls from listeners, and listens to more than 500 affiliated radio stations.




After joining CNN, King published several best-sellers, including his autobiography My Wonderful Journey 2009. He also wrote a book on heart disease after a heart attack.


He was inducted into the Broadcast, Cable and Broadcast Hall of Fame and won 10 Cable TV ACE Awards.


Kim and Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim founded Ora.TV, a digital entertainment network and production company, in 2012. Its programs include Larry King Now, Jesse Ventura Off the Grid and tasting brown wine with William Shatner.

Larry King was born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 19, 1933 to Jewish immigrants. He began to broadcast in the Florida market, and a friend told him that there was a shortage of talent in the air. He originally worked for WAHR (now WMBM) in Miami Beach and was originally a cleaner. King was broadcast when the announcer suddenly resigned.


He has been married eight times, including two married the same woman and had five children, two of whom died in 2020.


King won the Peabody Award for live election coverage in 1992 to "provide a unique insight into democracy for CNN's widely visible audiences".


The judges said: "Although political experts have analysed the election campaign infinitely at one extreme, while the other extreme has been diluted by a series of seemingly endless national and local talk show hosts, Larry Kinliffer has taken an important middle position.


As an interviewer, Mr. King made the candidate self-evident and asked some questions from his national and international audience, which revealed the characteristics of the people who led our country.
